Aluminum heatsinks for heat dissipation
A heatsink is a passive element for heat dissipation and for this purpose it consists of a heat conductive material such as aluminum, copper or sheet steel. By applying a heatsink to a heat-producing component a new component is created, consisting of heat source and heatsink.
The total surface area of the new component compared to the unit without heatsink is increased disproportionately by a suitable shape of the cooling body. This correspondingly increases the cooling effect of the surrounding air.
